Thanks to colleague, broham, and noted vegeterian Jake Rossi’s blog, I learned that the Dandy Warhols have finally posted the video for their song “Welcome to the Third World” to their YouTube page. I, and several other De Anza animation students (what up, Keenan, Jake, Jennie, William, and Jon?) contributed our sweat, tears, and pencil strokes to this project around the middle of last year. It’s been in the can since at least November, when it played to a shocked and awed audience of maybe fifteen people at the San Francisco International Animation Festival. Despite the relatively low turnout, the reception seemed good, and it brought a tear to the eye to see one’s work playing on something larger than a typical computer screen. Since then, we’ve all been wondering when the rest of the world would be able to see it. It seems that time is now.

Pay especially close attention to the dancing hippo at 0:39 and her seductive, snake-like moves. Don’t pretend you aren’t aroused …

Thanks go to the video’s director, Webster Colcord, for giving me the opportunity to work on this project.
